Pester and corrupt your annoying classmate in Star Knightess Aura 😈

Star Knightess Aura is a free erotic turn-based game about the lewd corruption and mind-control of a female protagonist available on Itch.io. The game follows Richard and Alicia as they set out to corrupt their ever-optimistic classmate Aura. Richard's motivation is straightforward: he wants to get in Aura’s pants. Alicia on the other hand simply can’t stand our hero, which is enough reason for her to start corrupting Aura.

Aura was inspired by the Persona series of games and is looking to subvert the usual fantasy tropes. Similar to those games, Aura features both a modern school and generic fantasy setting that you switch between while playing. And you can definitely hear the Persona influences in the jazzy music that plays during the school sections.

I'm always on the lookout for new lewd games on Itch.io and Star Knightess Aura immediately caught my attention when I first laid eyes on it. I was instantly drawn to its art style that combines pixel art graphics with beautifully illustrated character portraits. I don't know what it is about that combination of art styles but it just never gets old for me!

Even though the game is centered around corruption, mind control, and brainwashing, I still wanted to give it a try. These kinks are definitely outside my usual interests when it comes to sexy game content, but I'm always up to try something new. I downloaded the latest build and ended up playing through the first two hours.

From the get-go, I was impressed by what seems to be a very large scope for the game. The Intro/Prologue chapter alone took me a full hour to complete. It did a good job of explaining the premise of the plot and introducing Richard and Alice and their motivations for tormenting our poor hero.

The way you corrupt Aura is by spending Corruption points that you collect by completing quests from your guild. During the day, you follow her around at school and try to influence her behavior. At night, Aura lives out her dreams as a knight who is fighting beasts in a fantasy world.

The game is certainly self-aware of RPG and storytelling tropes, and it is quite cheeky about subverting them. Aura is annoyingly positive, upbeat, and hopeful, which made me want to see her succeed. But that also made me excited to see how she would change once the corruption really set in.

Once you get past the intro chapter, the gameplay loop of going to school, fighting in the dungeons, and corrupting Aura moves pretty quickly. Dying in combat is not an immediate Game Over. Instead, it just ends the day and adds to your corruption score. And the combat is certainly challenging, especially at the beginning. Luckily these encounters don't respawn and don't pop up randomly.

I was surprised to find no sex scenes in my time with the game. It seems that the game really wants you to earn these scenes, which I can certainly appreciate. But you should definitely not go in expecting anything lewd for at least a couple of hours.

I am so looking forward to playing more of the current build and following along with the development of the game. Seeing where the story goes, how the Corruption dynamic further plays into the story, and how the kinks tie together is really promising to me. While it's not finished yet, what's currently in the game is far more polished and impressive than I expected from a free demo. I'm still not sure if the themes of corruption, brainwashing, and mind control are for me necessarily, but I'm open to playing along and seeing how it goes.

And who knows, maybe the game will end up corrupting me too…?

Star Knightess Aura is still under development by aura-dev and is being updated regularly. For this preview, I looked at build 0.8.0 from their Itch.io page.
