The Sin of Adult Gaming on YouTube 🗑

Purity Sin has a channel on YouTube where they play adult games and other types of games. Recently, they were struck with a permanent ban, without any prior warnings. They suspect this was because of the adult content on their channel, even though they were very careful with what they showed:

I got absolutely no warnings from youtube for years on any of my content. I have been super careful censoring/removing overly sexual or explicit content. I appealed and almost instantly got told I dont matter. I can't even access my other channels connected to that account.

Luckily, the ban wasn’t as permanent as YouTube implied. After a brief outcry on Twitter and other channels, the ban was reversed:

@SapphireTri Apparently someone on their review team over reacted when someone reported a half second of an image in a year or two year old vid

Once again, this proves that the quality of customer service you receive from YouTube depends on how many followers you can point in their direction.

The lack of accountability that YouTube shows here is terrifying. Instead of warning one of their content creators about potential issues in their videos and giving them a chance to fix them, YouTube just banned the entire channel.
